Linda Eder, Arizona's sensational pop artist is bringing her signature sounds to the NYCB Theater!
Linda Eder was born in Tucson (Arizona) in 1961 and is a singer and actress. She took an interest in music after seeing Judy Garland (whom she cites as her biggest inspiration) perform her signature song, Over The Rainbow. She said in an interview, "I came from Scandinavian and European parents. We love each other very much, but we really didn't show our emotions much...Singing is a way for me to express my emotions. I didn't take lessons. I just started singing right out of high school. Even though I was singing cover songs of Standards and Broadway songs, the emotions always felt very real to me. I think I needed that and I think people heard that in my voice." Over the years, her musical style has spanned many genres such as pop standards, light swing, and adult contemporary (popular radio music, ranging from 1960s vocal and 1970s soft rock music to predominantly ballad heavy music of the present day, with varying degrees of easy listening, pop, soul, rhythm and blues, and rock influence). She's had a stellar career with 17 studio albums, 10 singles, and a Theater World Award (for Best Broadway Debut).
