Happy Together Tour, the all star concert featuring The Turtles, Three Dog Nights' Chuck Negron, The Association, The Cowsills, The Box Tops, and The Archies' Ron Dante is coming to the NYCB Theater!
The Turtles were formed (under the moniker Crossfires) in Los Angeles in 1965 by high school friends Howard Kaylan, Mark Volman, Al Nichol, Chuck Portz, Don Murray, and Jim Tucker. Their musical style is best described as a blend of sunshine pop (a subgenre of pop that developed from easy listening, advertising jingles, and the growing drug culture of the 60’s), pop rock (a genre that originated in the 1950s, influenced by the beat, arrangements, and style of rock and roll but with a greater emphasis on professional songwriting and recording craft), psychedelic pop, and folk rock (a style that arose in the United States and the United Kingdom around the mid 1960s, pioneered by the Los Angeles band the Byrds). They’ve had a stellar career with 8 studio albums, 15 compilation albums, 7 EPs, and 25 singles (several of which were Top 40 hits). They’re renowned for their 1967 smash hit single (Happy Together) knocking The Beatles’ Penny Lane out of the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The band currently consists of Howard (aka Eddie) and Mark (aka Flo).
